If you would like to sponsor a new three-seater chair for the chapel, please contact us at ballinaconvent@gmail.com These three-seater chairs are part of the integral heritage of the chapel and of local joinery. They are not manufactured anymore and are a snapshot of yesteryear’s carpentry.

Honouring Tradition
Originally, there were ten of these beautiful oak chairs in the chapel, arranged neatly along each wall — as shown in the historic photograph below. Today, only one of these original chairs remains.

Our goal is to recreate exact replicas of the originals — handcrafted pieces that will serve the chapel and its community for the next hundred years and beyond.
Craftsmanship
Each chair will be made from tempered oak, stained in dark oak and finished with beeswax, using traditional mortise and tenon joints for enduring strength.
In keeping with tradition, each sponsored chair will feature a plaque engraved with the sponsor’s family name.
Sponsorship Cost
The cost to manufacture one new chair is:
€2,100 + 23% VAT (€483) = €2,583 total
Your contribution will help preserve the chapel’s heritage while providing a lasting memorial for generations to come.
Sponsor Restoration of an External Heritage Door
There are five external doors that are in need of restoration; two into the central courtyard, two belonging to the sacristy and the main door on the east of the building. While each is in a different state of disrepair and condition, the average restoration cost for each door has been estimated as being €2,800 + 23% VAT (€644) = €3,444 total.
